On behalf of the staff of the Partnership for People with Disabilties, welcome to our special website! We are celebrating our 25th anniversary, and we want you to be a part of the celebration.
The Partnership began in 1985 as a satellite university affiliated program of Georgetown University. For our first 17 years, we were known as the Virginia Institute for Developmental Disabilities. We changed our name in 2002 to be more person-centered and to reflect our broader mission and our collaborative spirit. We also adopted our current tag line: "Linking people. Changing lives."
We have experienced significant growth in the past 25 years. Beginning with a staff of three and a budget of $150,000, the Partnerhsip currently has a staff of over 80 professionals, implementing over two dozen initiatives, with an annual budget of close to $9 million.
I hope you will take a moment to look around the site. We will be adding stories and photos throughout the year. We are proud of the work that we do in a collaboration with our many partners.
