RPS Seniors to Highlight Career Goals and Creativity in "Through Our Lens" Showcase
March 19, 2026
The celebration, running from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the 1717 Innovation Center in downtown Richmond, serves as the culmination of a four-year partnership between the students and Project PEACE at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Partnership for People with Disabilities.
Over the past four years, these students have worked diligently on self-advocacy and career readiness, transitioning from initial "Photovoice" photography projects to the creation of comprehensive virtual career portfolios. The April 28 showcase will provide a dynamic platform for these seniors to share their perspectives on employment and life after high school.
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with the students and experience a variety of presentations, including:
- Student Photovoice photography projects and portfolio displays
- Multimedia career portfolio presentations
- A student panel reflecting on their four-year Project PEACE journey
- Networking opportunities with the graduating seniors
"This is a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of our graduating seniors and hear directly from their experiences," event organizers shared. Light refreshments will also be provided for guests.
To accommodate all participating schools, the showcase will feature specific presentation windows:
- 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM: Armstrong High School, Thomas Jefferson High School, and John Marshall High School
- 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM: Richmond High School for the Arts and Huguenot High School
