What You Need to Know Before Voting

About 1/3 of people with IDD vote in federal, state, or local elections.*

To vote, you need to be registered!
Apply online elections.virginia.gov/citizen-portal
OR
fill out a registration form and turn it into your state or local government office.
The final day to register is November 4th.
What You Need to Vote
An Acceptable ID
Examples include:
- Virginia DMV-issued driver’s license or ID card
- United States Passport
- Student or Employer ID
- Voter Confirmation Documents

Accommodations
You have the right to accommodations to help you vote. Examples include:
- Magnifiers for reading ballots
- Accessible parking and entrances
- Accessible voting booths
- Voting from your car
- Talking ballots or electronic ballots
- Help reading or marking your ballot
- You can bring someone to help you!
