Overview

Grow parent leadership through implementation of a 1-3-6 family educator model that supports EHDI goals and activities for infants diagnosed as deaf/hard of hearing including parents trained to conduct site visits to newborn hearing screening teams, audiologists, and early intervention providers to affect systems change.

Major Activities

  • Provide 1:1 emotional and informational support to parents just learning of their child’s hearing loss
  • Build the leadership of parents to support the EHDI program’s site visits, learning communities, and advisory committee
  • Maintain products for families

Target Audience

  • Families of children birth to age 3 whose child is or is a risk of being deaf/hard of hearing
  • Newborn hospital screeners
  • EI providers
  • Audiologists
