Overview
Project Living Well is an initiative located at the Partnership for People with Disabilities at Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia’s University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD). The goal of the project is to work with state disability systems to align their work to better support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)—including those using long-term Medicaid Home & Community-Based Services (HCBS) and those waiting for services. The project aims to help individuals live a life of their choosing in an environment that promotes independence, health, and healthy relationships.

Major Activities

Develop and implement evidence-based capacity building strategies through face-to-face trainings and online modules.

Increase knowledge and skills in key areas such as person-centered practices, positive behavior supports, family engagement, career discovery, healthy relationship building, and quality improvement planning.

Provide online modules and resources to guide best practices for decision-making in systems for people with disabilities and their families through groups (e.g., committees and councils).

Regularly update and refresh training modules to ensure relevance.
